Construction worker struck, killed in Collin County crash
At around 9:47am this morning, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of County Road 543 and County Road 593 near Nevada.
Authorities say a van was traveling eastbound on County Road 543 and an SUV was traveling northbound on County Road 593. The driver of the SUV failed to stop at the stop sign where the county roads intersect, causing a crash. Impact from the collision caused the van to spin around and strike two construction workers.
One of the construction workers, a 35-year-old man from Dallas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A passenger in the SUV was also pronounced deceased at the scene. She has been identified as a 66-year-old woman from Tawakoni. The driver was transported to a Plano hospital.
The driver of the van was transported to a Plano hospital.
The second construction worker was not seriously hurt.
