UPDATE: 3 killed in crash near Hill/Johnson county line

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at approximately 2:50 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a crash on SH-174 between Blum and Rio Vista.
A sedan traveling northbound lost control while attempting to pass a vehicle and crashed head-on into an SUV traveling in the southbound lane.
The driver of the sedan was heavily trapped inside his vehicle. It took firefighters nearly two hours to extricate him from the wreckage. He was transported by air ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital, but pronounced deceased. He has been identified as a 20-year-old man from Cleburne.
The driver of the SUV, a 74-year-old woman from Hillsboro, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her husband who was riding in the passenger seat was transported by air ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital, but pronounced deceased.
“Driving rules and etiquette can be easy to forget as we become more experienced and pay less attention to our good and bad driving habits,” says Ryan Howard of the Texas Department of Public Safety. “Following traffic laws, practicing safe driving habits, and knowing how to pass safely are just a few things you can do as a driver to make the roads safer and prevent crashes.”
