Arlington firefighters rescue mother and children trapped in burning home

On August 14, 2023, the Arlington Fire Department responded to the report of a house on fire with visible smoke and flames near the 6000 block of Farmingdale Drive.

Information received indicated three individuals were trapped inside home, which resulted in the response being elevated to a second-alarm fire response prior to units arriving at the scene. The first arriving unit arrived to find a two-story residential home with fire consuming the garage and extending to the corner of the structure.

Bystanders informed personnel that the wife and two children were upstairs. All three occupants (6-year-old male, 10-year-old female, and adult female) were found inside a second floor bedroom closet and rescued by fire department personnel.

The fire was extinguished with the resources of a three-alarm fire response and no fire department casualties reported.

All three victims transported to a local medical facility, and at this time it has been reported they have been transferred to a medical facility outside the city in stable condition.

The preliminary cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
