Driver killed after crashing into Irving FD blocker truck

At around 2:30am on Sunday morning, Irving Fire/EMS and Police responded to a multiple vehicle crash on southbound Loop 12 near Irving Blvd. At least one fatality was reported in the crash.

Irving firefighters responded with a blocker truck, an old firetruck repurposed to block lanes of a highway while first responders work an accident scene.

At around 4:30am, Irving police officers were investigating the fatality accident when the driver of a pickup truck crashed into the blocker truck. The driver was pronounced deceased.

Irving FD estimates the driver was traveling at around 100mph at the time of the collision.

No first responders were injured in the crash. It might have been a different story if the blocker truck had not been positioned on the highway.

Reminder: MOVE OVER or SLOW DOWN when passing a highway accident scene.
