Intoxicated driver caused crash that killed 19-year-old SMU student, Dallas police say
The Dallas Police Department is investigating the death of an SMU student involved in a crash over the weekend.
On Sunday, September 24th, at about 4:20 pm, a 19-year-old driver and her friend were driving eastbound on Monticello Avenue. As they proceeded through the intersection at Central Expressway, a woman driving northbound on the service road failed to stop at the red light and broadsided their vehicle.
All three women were transported to Dallas hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The 19-year-old was pronounced deceased. Her passenger is listed in stable condition.
The driver who ran the red light and caused the crash has been identified as 27-year-old Lynlee Pollis. She only suffered minor injuries in the crash. Police have charged her with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault.
The crash remains under investigation.
