Pregnant woman killed in crash near downtown Dallas; unborn baby survives
On Saturday, January 6, at 2:32 a.m., Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Dallas Fire Rescue responded to a major accident involving an off-duty Dallas Police Officer along Interstate 30 near 2nd Avenue.
Upon arrival, deputies identified a stalled vehicle in the center lane of Interstate 30 and 2nd Avenue. The vehicle had been struck by an off-duty police officer in another vehicle.
All occupants in the stalled vehicle were taken to a local hospital. Two of the occupants are in critical condition.
After arriving at the hospital, a pregnant female was pronounced deceased. The baby survived, but is in critical condition.
The officer received a medical evaluation and was released from the hospital.
The roadway was opened at 5:52 a.m. CDT.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is leading this on-going investigation.
