Pedestrian struck, killed while assisting with altercation on 114, Irving police say

On Saturday evening, March 2, at 11:32pm, Irving Fire/EMS and Police were dispatched to a major accident in the eastbound lanes of Highway 114 near Freeport Parkway.

Irving police say two drivers were involved in a minor accident. Following the collision, the two drivers got into an altercation in the center lane of the highway.

A passerby stopped to render aid, and was fatally struck by another vehicle while walking across the highway. The driver who hit the pedestrian remained at the scene.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

All lanes of the eastbound Highway 114 were closed while Irving police investigated the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
