Head-on crash in Denton County claims life of Aubrey woman
On Monday, April 22, 2024, at approximately 5:56 P.M., the Krugerville Police Department along with the Aubrey Fire/EMS Department were dispatched to a major accident in the 5000 block of U.S. Highway 377 near the intersection of Ike Byrom Road.
Upon arrival, officers located a sedan driven by a 27-year-old female resident of Aubrey, Texas and an SUV that was operated by a 29-year-old resident of Cross Roads, Texas. The two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the collision occurred.
After the initial impact the SUV rolled over, ejecting the driver from the vehicle, while a child remained inside the vehicle secured in a Child Safety Seat. The driver and child were both transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The driver sedan was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased from her injuries.
U.S. Highway 377 was closed for a couple of hours and was re-opened at approximately 8:20 P.M. after the initial investigation was completed and the scene was cleared.
Krugerville Police will continue to investigate this incident in an attempt to determine the factors that led to this collision.
