Glenn Heights man arrested for shooting his brother in Red Oak

On Thursday at 5:54 PM, officers of the Red Oak Police Department were dispatched to the Red Oak Town Village apartments for a shooting that had just occurred inside of an apartment. The reporting person stated that her boyfriend had just been shot by his brother. The brother also called 9-1-1 and admitted to intentionally shooting his brother.

Upon arrival, officers entered both sides of the complex and approached the breezeway of the apartment where the shooting had allegedly occurred. Red Oak police personnel observed a male subject exiting from the breezeway of the apartment and ordered the subject to stop. The subject started running away from the officers and jumped into a black 2020 Ford Eco Sport and attempted to flee the scene. A Red Oak officer gave chase in a patrol vehicle behind the suspect vehicle while another Red Oak officer approached in a patrol vehicle from the front of the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle collided with the front of the patrol vehicle and came to a rest inside of the apartment complex parking lot. The driver of the suspect vehicle was secured into handcuffs and into a patrol vehicle while the investigation was conducted.

Officers secured the shooting scene and the crash scene for further investigation. Red Oak Fire Rescue and Allegiance Ambulance crews provided medical attention to the victim along with the officer and the subject that had collided.

The victim of the shooting was transported to a Dallas hospital by CareFlite air ambulance for further medical treatment for life threatening injuries and is being treated at this time.

The officer was transported by Allegiance Ambulance for medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at this time.

Upon further investigation, the subject was identified and taken into custody. The subject was transported to the Red Oak Police Department and booked for the offenses. The subject was identified as a 21-year-old male from Glenn Heights. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault w/ Serious Bodily Injury (FV), Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, and Evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.
