19-year-old driver killed in Arlington crash
The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old man.
On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:39 a.m., Arlington PD, FD, and EMS responded to the westbound lanes of 2600 E I20 Freeway near Collins Street after receiving an iPhone crash alert. When officers arrived, they learned that the driver, a 19-year-old, veered into the right shoulder of the freeway and stuck an unoccupied, parked vehicle.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
As a result of the accident, two lanes of the I-20 Freeway were closed from approximately 01:45 to 05:00 AM, and two lanes and the exit ramp of northbound SH 360 were closed from 05:00 to 06:30 AM. All lanes reopened at 06:30 AM.
“The Arlington Police Department reminds the public to always wear your seatbelt when driving your car. Accidents can happen at any time, often when you least expect it. Wearing your seatbelt can reduce the risk of death and minimize the severity of injury after a collision.”
