Arlington police searching for driver who struck, killed couple and fled scene

The Arlington Police Department is investigating an auto-pedestrian hit-and-run that resulted in the deaths of two people.

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, at approximately 11:32 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of E. Lamar Boulevard and Corporate Drive after receiving reports that multiple people were injured in a crash.

When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female and an adult male lying unresponsive on the ground. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. Neither of them had any identification on them.

The driver who hit them did not stay at the scene.

Traffic cameras in the area captured the collision. The footage shows a silver Chevrolet Malibu with temporary paper tags traveling eastbound along Lamar Blvd at a high rate of speed. As the Malibu passed through the intersection, it went onto the sidewalk where the two pedestrians were walking, striking both of them. The driver then pulled back onto the roadway and sped off, heading eastbound towards Highway 360.

Investigators are working to locate the vehicle and identify the driver. At this time, no arrests have been made.

APD believes the Malibu will have heavy front end damage to the hood and windshield. Anyone with information about the incident or the location of the suspect vehicle is urged to contact Crash Investigator Lee at (817) 575-8605 or Robert.Lee@ArlingtonTX.gov.

Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477. Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator. To be eligible for the reward, tipsters must contact the Crime Stoppers tip line.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the names of the victims once they have been positively identified and next of kin have been notified.
