Driver killed in crash while fleeing from Allen police
The Allen Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one individual early Tuesday morning on US 75 service road at the Frontage Road exit.
On March 18th at approximately 2:35 AM, an Allen Police officer initiated a traffic stop while on duty in a marked patrol vehicle. The officer attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle by activating the red and blue overhead emergency lights.
In lieu of stopping, the driver accelerated in an apparent attempt to evade law enforcement. The vehicle exited Southbound US 75 onto the Frontage Road, and, in less than a minute, the driver lost control and crashed into a wooded area along the westside of the service road. The vehicle ultimately came to rest on its passenger side, pinned against a tree.
Allen Police officers approached the wrecked vehicle but found the driver unresponsive and trapped inside.
Allen Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and determined the subject to be deceased.
Allen officers conducted a thorough grid search of the area to ensure no other occupants had been ejected from the vehicle or fled the scene. Additionally, Allen Fire conducted a thermal imaging scan of the surrounding area. No additional individuals were located.
The Collin County Medical Examiner arrived on the scene, pronounced the subject deceased, and took custody of the individual. The scene was processed as part of the ongoing investigation.
