UPDATE: Driver might have been racing prior to hitting another vehicle, killing woman, APD says
The Arlington Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a 54-year-old woman.
On Friday, March 6, 2026, at approximately 12:34 P.M., officers responded to the intersection of S. Cooper Street and Eden Road after receiving reports of a major crash involving two vehicles.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a 54-year-old woman driver, who required emergency medical attention. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred when a vehicle traveling northbound on S. Cooper Street collided with her vehicle. Investigators believe the woman was traveling southbound and was in the turn lane attempting to make a left turn at the time of the collision.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, an adult male, was also injured in the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Crash investigators believe speed may have played a role in the collision. Although it has not yet been confirmed, investigators are also working to determine whether the driver of the northbound vehicle was engaged in street racing prior to the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review evidence and speak with all involved parties.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
