UPDATE: FWPD kills armed sexual assault suspect after police chase
At around 8:00pm Saturday evening, members of Fort Worth Police Department’s DRU (Directed Response Unit) were looking for an individual who allegedly committed a sexual assault of a minor.
The individual had cut off his ankle monitor, prompting FWPD officers to initiate a search.
When officers located the suspect, he initiated a brief police chase before coming to a stop in the parking lot of the M&M Inn in the 100 block of Palette Drive, just off the I35W northbound service road.
As officers approached the suspect vehicle, he produced a firearm, leading officers to open fire. The suspect was hit, and died at the scene.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
