Suspect seriously hurt in crash attempting to evade DPS in Parker County
On September 7, 2026, a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper in Parker County observed a white GMC Terrain traveling westbound on Interstate 20 in the Weatherford area at speeds exceeding 100 mph and committing several additional traffic violations.
When the Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled and continued westbound on I-20. Near the intersection of I-20 and U.S. 180, the GMC struck a vehicle and continued fleeing. The collision caused damage to the vehicles, but no injuries.
Near Ric Williamson Memorial Highway, the driver exited I-20 and then attempted to re-enter the highway by traveling through the bar ditch. The GMC struck a culvert and came to rest on I-20, blocking the westbound lanes.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the GMC, was airlifted by CareFlite to a Fort Worth hospital with serious injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
