Man armed with knife killed by APD
At around 10:45pm Thursday, Arlington PD responded to a home in the 1700 block of W. Lovers Lane for a suicidal subject call.
During the call, one officer fired his weapon at a man who was armed with a knife.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died. No officers were injured.
As is standard anytime an officer uses deadly force, two investigations are currently taking place:
- A criminal investigation led by the APD Homicide Unit, which will review the entire incident to determine whether any criminal offenses were committed
- An administrative investigation led by the APD Internal Affairs Unit, which will determine whether officers followed department policies and procedures.
