Man kidnaps estranged spouse, leads police on chase before murder-suicide
At approximately 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, Burleson public safety personnel received reports of an armed male in the 700 block of W. Hidden Creek Parkway.
According to preliminary reports, the male was seen outside with a female before forcing her into a vehicle. Initial information indicates the two were estranged spouses.
The male fled the area, traveling southbound on SH 174/Wilshire Boulevard. Burleson police officers initiated a pursuit after the driver failed to comply with officers’ attempts to stop the vehicle.
The pursuit continued toward Chisholm Trail Parkway and eventually ended near Bourland Field Airport in Cresson.
Both individuals were found deceased inside the vehicle from apparent gunshot wounds. Preliminary findings indicate the incident was a murder-suicide. No shots were fired by any responding law enforcement agencies.
The Burleson Police Department was assisted by the Johnson County, Parker County and Tarrant County sheriff’s offices, Fort Worth Police Department’s Air 1 helicopter unit and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
