Major delays on I45 due to crash in Ellis County; CareFlite requested

Multiple emergency responders in Ellis County are working a major accident with injuries on northbound I45 in Ferris.

Ferris FD, CareFlite ground EMS, and several law enforcement are on the scene. CareFlite has landed at the scene. Palmer FD and Wilmer FD assisted.

Avoid this area.

Update – CareFlite is airlifting one person to Methodist Dallas with serious injuries. CPR in progress. The northbound lanes are closed for accident investigation and debris cleanup.

Grand Prairie police investigating fatal auto pedestrian accident

Around 6:35PM last night (Sunday evening), Grand Prairie police and fire/EMS crews responded to the northbound frontage road of SH 161 and Dalworth Street for a person struck by a vehicle.

A female had disregarded a pedestrian control signal and was walking west in the crosswalk while traffic on the northbound frontage road had a green light.

A vehicle traveling northbound on the frontage road struck the pedestrian as she ran across the road, attempting to outrun multiple vehicles.

The driver of the vehicle and other witnesses stopped and performed CPR on the woman. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS crews.

No charges will be filed against the driver of the vehicle, according to Grand Prairie PD.

Addison office building evacuated due to suspicious package

A five story office building in Addison, located at 15301 Spectrum Drive, has been evacuated while police and fire crews investigate a suspicious package.

According to an official, an employee reporting for work found a “crudely wrapped package with no return address” outside of a door at the building, possibly left sometime over the weekend.

The employee peeled back the wrapping and noticed a possible pipe of some sort and other items which raised suspicion. Subsequently, the Addison PD was called.

Addison PD and FD have evacuated the building. Dallas PD’s Bomb Squad along with Dallas Fire Rescue’s HazMat teams have been called to handle the suspicious package. An x-ray machine has been sent into the building to examine the package.

More details when available.

*Update – All clear given. The package was reportedly some type of refrigerator filter. The building is now reopened.

Overnight pursuit in Dallas, Collin counties ends with one person in custody

A long pursuit involving multiple agencies during the overnight hours eventually led to one person in custody.

The pursuit, which lasted over an hour, traveled on I30, 635, I35E, PGBT, 75, SRT, and others across Dallas and Collin counties. The pursuit began around 1AM in the Highland Park area and eventually ended in Frisco.

In the early portion of the chase, Highland Park PD, Dallas Sheriffs along with DPD Air-1 were following the vehicle along I30. The vehicle was reportedly hauling another vehicle on a U-Haul trailer.

Garland PD, Farmers Branch PD, DPS-101 helicopter, DPS troopers, and many other agencies assisted while the pursuit traveled through much of Dallas County and into Collin.

The pursuit came to an end in south Frisco near the intersection of Hillcrest Road and Lebanon Road.

UPDATE: 18 wheeler crashes off I35E in Waxahachie

Here is a quick update on the major crash last night (Sunday evening) at I35E and 287 in Waxahachie.

Waxahachie fire/EMS and police departments responded to a major accident at I35E and US-287 on Sunday evening at 5:45PM. According to a Waxahachie PD traffic unit, an 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on I35E near US-287 when a blowout occurred.

The driver lost control of the semi truck and it traveled off the highway, down an embankment, and struck the I35E service road bridge pillar.

Luckily, the truck driver was not seriously injured. The driver was transported to Baylor Scott and White Waxahachie hospital for treatment.

No other vehicles were involved. HazMat responded to the scene to help clean up the fuel spill.

UPDATE: Woman dies in Friday night crash on 183 in Hurst

Last Friday night, Hurst police and fire departments responded to a major accident along westbound Airport Freeway (183) just before NE Loop 820 just after 10PM.

Officers arrive to find the sole occupant alive, but unconscious in the vehicle. The vehicle had reportedly struck a pole.

“Hurst medics immediately began treatment and transported the driver to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later,” says Hurst police.

Evidence at the scene indicates only one vehicle was involved in the crash. It is unclear at this time whether the driver’s death was brought on by the accident or underlying medical problems. The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the cause of death.

Grapevine FD investigating cause of overnight restaurant fire

Grapevine FD along with assistance from several other neighboring departments have been on scene of a working structure fire at Baker’s Ribs, 1720 Blvd 26.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and fire thru the roof of the building. The fire quickly became intense, prompting firefighters to take a defensive posture for their safety.

Coppell, Flower Mound, Euless, Bedford, and others all responded to the scene for assistance.

No one was believed to be inside the restaurant when the fire started. There are no reports of injuries.
