UPDATE: Armed man at Austin MS in Irving determined to be a cop

The Irving Police Department says they have completed their investigation into the report of an armed man yesterday at Austin Middle School in Irving.

The armed man was determined to be a law-enforcement officer. Police say the man is part of an outside police agency that was serving a warrant nearby. He had staged his vehicle in the school parking lot.

There was never any threat to the school.

“We are appreciative of the parent that called in, and continue to remind people ‘if you see something, say something.’”

One transported after crash near Timber Creek HS in Fort Worth

Fort Worth FD, PD, and MedStar EMS responded to a vehicle crash earlier this morning in front of Timber Creek High School near the 12300 block of Timberland Blvd.

Officials say a single vehicle crashed into an embankment off the roadway. The driver sustained a head injury and was unable to talk, according to police.

MedStar transported the driver by ground to Baylor Grapevine with potentially serious injuries.

Police say speed is considered to be a possible factor in the crash.

UPDATE: Child shot in Arlington last Sunday dies at hospital

According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, the 6-year-old male child shot last Sunday in Arlington has died at the hospital.

Police responded to the house in the 1400 block of Cloyne Drive last Sunday afternoon. The child was found with a serious injury, and transported to Methodist Mansfield Hospital. According to police, he was then transferred by air ambulance to Cook Children’s.

The child passed away at the hospital this morning.

Arlington PD are still investigating the case, but do believe the shooting was accidental. There are no other details to be released at this time.

Two teenagers airlifted to hospital following crash near Waxahachie

Multiple agencies responded to a serious crash late this afternoon on FM 813 approximately half a mile west of Gibson Road near Waxahachie in Ellis County. Two vehicles were involved in a near head-on collision.

DPS troopers say a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old male and occupied by a 17-year-old female was traveling north on FM 813. The 16-year-old driver attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone. As the vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane of travel, it struck a second vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

Both teenager occupants of the vehicle at fault were transported by medical helicopters to Methodist Dallas hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, who has been identified as a 69-year-old male, was transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Dallas with serious injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

UPDATE: Report of armed man wearing camo prompts lockdown at Austin Middle School in Irving

The Irving Police Department is investigating a report of an armed man on the campus of Austin Middle School.

Police say a parent of a child called around 7AM this morning regarding a possibly armed person on the campus. The person of interest was described as a white male with a beard wearing camo and possibly in possession of a rifle and handgun. The parent saw the individual get out of a maroon Ford truck.

After the report was received, school officials and police locked down the school and moved students away from the building.

A thorough search of the building has been completed and no person of interest has been located at this time.

The school is being reopened at 10AM this morning for regular hours.

Police are still reviewing leads and information to validate the witness report. There was only one person who saw this individual.

Female reported missing in Burleson on Sunday night found dead at home

The Burleson Police Department and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the death of a woman reported missing on Sunday evening, September 15th.

According to Burleson Police, officers took a report of a missing person on Sunday evening at around 5:30PM. Detectives went to her residence on Monday morning in the 500 block of NW Ann Lois Lane and discovered her deceased.

Police say her body was located on the exterior of the residence inside a wooden privacy fence.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy of the body yesterday, and determined there were no signs of apparent trauma. Toxicology reports to rule the cause of death are currently pending.

There are rumors circulating that the woman was killed by a family member. At this time, those reports do not hold any merit.

11-year-old struck by ambulance in Burleson

The Burleson Fire Department says an 11-year-old male was struck and injured by an AMR ambulance running “code”, or lights and sirens, earlier this evening near downtown Burleson.

A preliminary investigation reveals that as the ambulance approached the 300 block of E. Renfro Street with active lights and siren, vehicles pulled out of the way to let the ambulance pass. According to fire officials, the 11-year-old thought they were allowing him to cross the street. That is when he entered into the roadway and was hit by the ambulance.

BFD says the child sustained an injury after the ambulance’s mirror struck his head.

We have no updated word on his condition, but officials say the injuries were not life-threatening.

Person struck and killed by vehicle on I35W in Alvarado

The Alvarado Police Department is investigating a major accident involving a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on northbound I35W near US-67.

Alvarado PD say one person has been pronounced deceased on the scene. Police say a male was attempting to cross the freeway on foot and was struck by a passing vehicle.

All lanes were closed for investigation, but one lane has since been reopened. Traffic is still very slow in the area.

No other details have been released at this time.

One person airlifted from auto-pedestrian in Joshua

The Joshua Fire Department along with Joshua PD and Johnson County EMS (AMR) all responded to a serious crash last night at S. Broadway Street (Highway 174) at Conveyor Drive (FM 917).

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene around 10PM. Upon arrival, it was determined one person was struck by a vehicle. The patient sustained serious injuries in the accident.

CareFlite was called to the scene and transported the patient to the hospital in unknown condition.

Joshua Engine 77, Squad 77, Medic 177, Medic 174, and PD all responded.

Two injured in Garland shooting

The Garland Police Department is investigating a shooting in the area of Eastern Meadows Drive and Waterhouse Blvd.

GPD reports two people have been injured. Injuries appear to be non-life threatening at this time, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.

Update – Both victims were females, aged 14 and 27. Neither were seriously injured. Police say the shooting occurred during a fight.
