Midlothian police warn public of possible abduction attempt

*UPDATE* Police now say the female juvenile who reported this possible abduction fabricated the story.

The Midlothian Police Department is investigating a reported abduction attempt earlier today in the Kensington Park neighborhood of east Midlothian.

This afternoon at approximately 4:30PM, a female student from Walnut Grove Middle School was walking home in the Kensington Park neighborhood. As she walked along Newgate Street, she observed a black pickup truck, possibly a Toyota, pass her and pull over on the road. An unknown subject in a dark or black hooded sweatshirt approached her from behind and grabbed her arm.

She kicked backwards and struck the subject in the groin area. She heard a grunt that sounded like it was a male. The subject released the grip on her arm, and she ran back to the school. The incident was reported to the police.

Midlothian Police do not have any additional descriptions of the subject or the vehicle. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Midlothian Police Department.
