DPS stresses driving safety after crash critically injures fatigued driver

Texas DPS is urging drivers to use extreme caution when driving while fatigued or sleepy after a crash that fatally injured a driver in Hill County earlier this week.
Multiple emergency responders were called to the scene along Highway 174 near Hill County Road 1130 in Blum (Hill County) on Tuesday evening at 5:45PM.
Troopers say a sedan was traveling northbound on Highway 174 when it left the roadway, crashed into a culvert, and overturned into another culvert with water.
The driver was airlifted to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth via CareFlite. Police say the driver was critically injured in the crash. According to law enforcement, the initial belief is that the driver was possibly fatigued.
“If you feel sleepy, stop driving. Fatigue affects your reaction time, judgement, and vision, and can potentially lead to a crash,” says Sgt. Ryan Howard with the TX DPS.
