Strong storms, heavy rain likely overnight in DFW

After a soaking rain two nights ago, we now have a good chance for strong, potentially severe, thunderstorms and heavy rain in the DFW Metroplex overnight tonight.

A line of strong and severe weather has been moving our direction from west Texas throughout the day. Latest projections indicate the storms will arrive between the hours of midnight and 6AM.

Severe weather is a possibility, but chances are not high. A tornado can also not totally be ruled out, as one of the storms was tornado-warned earlier this evening north of Abilene.

A Flash Flood WATCH has been issued for this round of heavy rain. There is also a chance of heavy rain tomorrow (Wednesday) night as well.

So don’t be alarmed if you are awoken by heavy rainfall and lightning. Please have a way to receive severe weather alerts to your cell phone in the event of a serious weather situation. You never know when it will happen, and you’ll want to be ready when it does.
