UPDATE: Officer seriously injured after being struck by vehicle fleeing from police

The Fort Worth Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle that was reported stolen around 11:30AM this morning along northbound I35W. The driver took off in a pursuit began.

During the pursuit, an officer attempted to deploy stop sticks to slow the vehicle around West Loop 820 near Camp Bowie, but the suspect struck the officer. The officer was seriously injured in the collision.

CareFlite was called to the scene and airlifted the officer to JPS in unknown condition. There are reports the officer has sustained serious injuries.

The Fort Police Police Officers Association says the officer has sustained severe injuries.

The suspect vehicle was later located nearby and officers are searching the area for the suspect.
