Police subdue distressed man using beanbag round at QT in North Richland Hills

The North Richland Hills Police Department responded to a man in distress at the QuikTrip, 6640 NE Loop 820 at Rufe Snow Drive.

A patron at the store as police were arriving say the man was pacing back and forth, clearly in some type of emotional distress. Police confirm the man was armed with a knife or box cutter type of weapon.

North Richland Hills police officers made scene quickly and attempted to calm him down; however, in order to safely get the man into custody, a beanbag round, often referred to as a “less lethal shotgun”, was used.

EMS transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his emotional disturbance.

The incident is under investigation. There may be heavy police activity at the scene.
