UPDATE: Two people airlifted from severe crash on I-30 in Arlington

The Arlington Police Department has closed all eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 near State Highway 360 due to a serious single-vehicle crash.

The crash occurred around 2:15PM in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 near the Six Flags Drive exit. One vehicle struck a guardrail along the right shoulder of the highway, causing significant damage to the vehicle. Officials say the guardrail went through the vehicle.

Emergency responders advised two people, both males, were heavily trapped inside the vehicle. Both had sustained amputation-related injuries. Two medical helicopters were immediately called to the scene as firefighters began extricating both occupants.

CareFlite landed two helicopters on the eastbound lanes of I-30 just east of the crash scene. They airlifted the two individuals to Texas Health Harris Hospital with serious injuries.

As of 3:45PM, the highway remains closed. Westbound lanes are open. Arlington PD reports the closure should last another hour or two. All traffic is forced to exit at SH 360.

The cause of the crash is under investigation at this time. Further updates will follow.
