Two killed in fiery crash on PGBT in Plano

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight Sunday along the President George Bush Turnpike near Jupiter Road. The Plano Fire Department also responded with DPS troopers.

Investigators say at around 3:00am, two vehicles collided while traveling west on the turnpike. One vehicle rear-ended the other. The vehicle that was rear-ended caught fire.

The driver and one passenger of the vehicle were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver who rear-ended the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lanes of westbound PGBT were closed during the overnight hours while DPS troopers investigated the scene.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Intoxicated driver causes fatal crash on SH-360 in Arlington, police say

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight along State Highway 360 near Division Street in east Arlington.

Just before 2:00am, Arlington Fire Department, Police Department, and EMS were called to the crash on northbound State Highway 360 near Division Street. A driver and passenger were inside of a vehicle that had been involved in a crash and was stalled in the lanes of traffic. The driver had just taken off his seatbelt when another vehicle collided with the stalled vehicle.

The driver of the stalled vehicle was killed in the second crash. He has been identified as a 24-year-old man from Weatherford. His passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle who collided with the stalled vehicle was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash, police say. He was arrested on an Intoxication Manslaughter charge.

All lanes of northbound State Highway 360 were closed for several hours while Arlington police investigated the scene.

Man shot while walking with his girlfriend at Fort Worth apartments

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning that occurred at the Metro 7000 Apartments.

Just after 5:00am, Fort Worth police officers were called to the 7000 block of Boxwood Drive after a man was shot in the back. Investigators say the man was walking along the sidewalk with his girlfriend when an unknown man shot at them.

The man was transported to a local hospital with a serious, but non-life-threatening injury. The woman was not injured. The suspect fled and is still on the loose.

The incident remains under investigation.

Driver killed after vehicle leaves roadway, hits tree in Flower Mound

The Flower Mound Police Department is investigating a single vehicle fatality accident that occurred around 6:00am this morning along the 2700 block of Garden Ridge Blvd.

Police say the vehicle was traveling along Garden Ridge Blvd when, for an undisclosed reason, the driver left the roadway and hit a tree. The vehicle burst into flames upon impact.

The adult male driver was pronounced deceased by paramedics. He was the sole occupant in the vehicle.

Lanes of Garden Ridge Blvd were closed while Flower Mound police investigated the scene.

This accident was just blocks from another single-vehicle accident with fatality that occurred a few hours earlier in Lewisville. Click here to read details on that crash.

Young driver killed in high speed crash along Lewisville roadway

The Lewisville Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred on Tuesday night at the intersection of Bellaire Blvd and Garden Ridge Blvd.

Police say they responded to the scene just before 10:00pm last night. Lewisville firefighters and paramedics also responded for possible extrication.

One SUV hit a power pole in the center median of the roadway. Investigators believe the driver was traveling at excessive speeds.

The driver has been identified as a 19-year-old resident of Lewisville. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Lanes of the roadway were closed while police investigated the scene.

Two people shot at Arlington apartment complex

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred late this afternoon at the Blakely Apartment Homes, 1500 Summer Bay Circle.

At around 4:50pm today, the Arlington PD was called to a shooting at the apartment complex. When officers arrived, they located two people with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were transported from the crime scene to a local hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses reported seeing three suspects run away after the shooting occurred.

Arlington PD has maintained a presence at the apartment complex for most of the evening while they investigate the scene. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.

UPDATE: One of the victims has died at the hospital. He has been identified as a 25-year-old man from Arlington.

Highway 287 closed for several hours following rollover crash in Wise County

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a serious crash that closed lanes of Highway 287 during most of the overnight hours.

Just after midnight, multiple emergency responders from Wise County were dispatched to a crash along Highway 287 near the Wise County and Tarrant County line.

Investigators say a pickup truck was driving northbound on Highway 287 when the driver veered onto the right shoulder and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn several times. The vehicle came to rest in the southbound lanes of traffic.

The driver of the vehicle was ejected. A passenger in the vehicle also sustained injuries. They were both transported from the scene to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. At least one of them was airlifted.

All northbound and southbound lanes of the highway were blocked for several hours while DPS investigated the crash. The highway has since been reopened.

Intoxicated driver causes crash that kills pedestrian in Lewisville

The Lewisville Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred on Friday night in the 400 block of Highland Drive near Club Ridge Drive. The crash happened around 8:00pm.

According to police, a vehicle traveling east on Highland Drive veered into oncoming traffic, hit a vehicle head-on, and then crashed off the roadway, striking two pedestrians who were walking along the sidewalk.

One of the pedestrians, identified as an 18-year-old male from Houston, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second, a juvenile, was critically injured and transported by Lewisville EMS to Children’s Dallas hospital. The juvenile was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The two were brothers.

The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old woman, was arrested and transported to jail on suspicion of intoxicated driving. She has been charged with Intoxication Assault and Intoxication Manslaughter.

Pilot of experimental aircraft killed in crash near Spinks Airport

Multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of an aircraft today at around 2:30pm this afternoon.

According to radio transmissions from the Spinks air traffic control tower, the pilot of the experimental aircraft indicated he was unable to gain altitude in his aircraft and started his return to the airport. The tower notified the pilot of smoke coming from the aircraft’s engine. The pilot was attempting to land at Spinks after the in-flight emergency when he crashed about a half mile south of the airport.

Burleson firefighters, Medstar paramedics, and multiple police agencies were all dispatched to the scene. They located one airplane upside down in a parking lot at 605 E. Renfro Street. Paramedics pronounced the pilot of the plane deceased on the scene. There were no other occupants.

Aircraft information indicates the pilot and aircraft were registered out of Burleson. The plane was identified as an experimental aircraft called a Sonex.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be leading the investigation into the crash.

Intoxicated driver causes crash that kills juvenile in Oak Cliff

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred on Monday morning at the intersection of E. Missouri Avenue and Maryland Avenue in the Oak Cliff area of south Dallas.

Just before 7:30am, Dallas Fire Rescue and Police were called to the intersection after two vehicles collided. Paramedics transported multiple juveniles to an area hospital following the accident.

Officials say a sedan traveling eastbound on Missouri Avenue was hit by another driver who ran a stop sign. The male driver and three juveniles, aged 10, 11, and 13, who were all riding in the sedan, sustained injuries. DFR transported all to a local hospital where the 10-year-old child was pronounced deceased. Conditions of the driver and other juveniles has not yet been released.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver who ran the stop sign and collided with the sedan was driving while intoxicated. The 47-year-old driver is being investigated for Intoxication Manslaughter and three counts of Intoxication Assault.

The crash remains under investigation.
