Body recovered from lake believed to be missing Irving mother

The Irving Police Department is investigating the discovery of a body in a small residential lake at La Villita Lakeside and Landings’ Lago de Claire, located at 6727 Deseo.

On Tuesday of this week, 38-year-old Lashun Massey left for her routine walk between 5:00am and 5:30am. Family members said she usually returns home around 7:00am to get her kids ready for school. But on Tuesday, she had not shown up by 7:40am, so her husband called Irving police.

Officers immediately began a missing person investigation. They spoke to two people who saw a woman matching Massey’s description get out of the water and stand on a park bench at around 5:00am that morning. Acting on eyewitness information, the Irving Fire Department, assisted by other fire departments and the Texas Parks and Wildlife, responded with their water rescue / dive team to search the water. Nothing was located.

Additional dive teams, including one from the Texas Department of Public Safety, were called to the scene today to assist in the recovery efforts. At around 9:45am, emergency responders located the body. Police say the clothing description matched Massey’s when she was reported missing, but they are waiting for the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office to positively identify the body.

Irving police do not believe foul play was involved, but will wait on the autopsy to confirm.
