Young man street racing killed in Carrollton crash

The Carrollton Police Department has released additional information regarding the fatality accident last night at Trinity Mills Road and Willowgate Lane.
Traffic investigators say a 19-year-old driver was racing his friend in another car when the crash occurred. The young man lost control of the car and hit a tree near the Briarview Senior Living.
His friends in the other vehicle were not injured. The driver of that vehicle is cooperating with police.
Lanes of Trinity Mills were closed from around 8:00pm until 2:30am while investigators conducted their investigation.
“Street racing is punishable under Texas Transportation Code Section 545.420 as a second degree felony when it involves serious death or injury,” noted the Carrollton Police Department. Violators could face up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
