Teenager drowns while swimming at Lake Ray Roberts

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Division is investigating a drowning that occurred at a Lake Ray Roberts swimming area.

Yesterday (Thursday) at approximately 1:30pm, multiple emergency responders were called to the Lake Ray Roberts State Park Isle Du Bois swimming beach after an individual went missing while swimming.

TPWD Game Wardens along with Denton County Sheriff’s Office, State Park Police, Pilot Point Fire Department, Pilot Point Police Department, US Army Corps of Engineers Rangers, and Lewisville Fire Department Dive Team all responded to search for the victim.

Dive team members utilized special SONAR equipment to locate the victim’s body just before 4:00pm.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as a 17-year-old male from Pilot Point. Authorities say he was swimming with friends when he went under and did not resurface.

“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the Pilot Point community during this time,” said the Texas Parks and Wildlife in a statement.
