Man shoots and kills Lyft driver, steals car, and shot by Plano officers during shootout

The Plano Police Department and Garland Police Department are investigating a series of events that occurred earlier this morning in Garland and Plano.
Before noon, Garland police responded to a shooting in the 400 block of Forest Gate Drive and found a woman fatally shot. Officers learned she was a Lyft driver. Her vehicle was stolen after the shooting, so officers put out a BOLO (be on the lookout) to surrounding agencies.
At around 12:15pm today, officers were dispatched to assist with a person “acting erratically” in the lobby of the Plano Police Department headquarters at 909 E. 14th Street. Reports indicated he was wearing a black shirt and black mask.
The man entered the lobby before police arrived, left, and came back a few minutes later armed with a handgun. He had a brief encounter with a civilian employee in the lobby before firing a shot towards the employee. The employee was able to escape uninjured.
Additional personnel inside the police building heard the shot and immediately confronted the man, exchanging several shots.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital by the Plano Fire Rescue. His condition has not yet been released.
Plano officers located a vehicle in the parking lot and determined it was stolen from the Garland homicide approximately one hour earlier.
Both departments are still actively investigating this case. Additional details will be published when released by officials.
