Intoxicated driver ejected in crash near Alvarado
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a serious crash that occurred near Alvarado on Saturday evening.
At 5:37pm last Saturday, multiple emergency responders were called to the scene along Farm to Market Road 3136 near County Road 318 between Alvarado and Cleburne.
Authorities say the driver of a vehicle was traveling west on FM 3136 when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the road. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned multiple times, ejecting the driver and trapping a passenger inside the vehicle. Neither were restrained by seatbelts, according to police.
A CareFlite helicopter was called to airlift the ejected driver to a local hospital. He has been identified as a 28-year-old male from Alvarado. His condition has not yet been released.
The passenger was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ground ambulance to THR Fort Worth with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver was charged with Driving While Intoxicated – 1st Offense with Open Container.
The investigation is ongoing.
