One motorcyclist killed, two others injured in Johnson County crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred Sunday evening in Johnson County.

At 6:53pm, multiple emergency responders from Johnson County were dispatched to the intersection of Farm to Market Road 4 and Farm to Market Road 2331 for a major accident involving two motorcycles.

Authorities say a motorcycle, occupied by an adult male operator and adult female rider, were attempting to catch up to a motorcycle group traveling on FM 2331. A second motorcyclist in the group apparently slowed to allow the other motorcycle to catch up. The operator of the motorcycle attempting to catch up failed to control his speed and collided with the second motorcyclist who had slowed down. This collision caused all three individuals to be ejected from their motorcycles.

The operator of the motorcycle who was attempting to catch up with the group was pronounced deceased at Texas Health Cleburne hospital. He has been identified as a 40-year-old man from Bedford. His adult female rider was transported to a hospital with injuries, as was the other operator involved in the collision. Their injuries are not reported to be life-threatening. None of them were wearing helmets, according to DPS.

The investigation is still ongoing.
