Wrong-way driver turned around on highway just before crash, DPS says

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a serious crash that occurred late Wednesday night along the President George Bush Turnpike in Garland.
At 11:34pm, Garland FD/EMS and DPS Troopers responded to the eastbound lanes of the President George Bush Turnpike near Firewheel Parkway for a major accident.
Officials say the driver of a passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on the turnpike when they turned around and began traveling the wrong direction on the highway. As the driver traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes, they collided head-on with another passenger vehicle.
The wrong way driver and a passenger in the vehicle were transported to Medical City Plano with serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as a 61-year-old man, was also transported to Medical City Plano with serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
