Suspect killed in Weatherford officer involved shooting
The Weatherford Police Department and assisting agencies are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred this morning at Ric Williamson Highway and Highway 180.
At 8:08am, Weatherford officers were dispatched to a stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect drove off and led officers on a pursuit that ended in a crash at Ric Williamson and Highway 180.
Immediately after wrecking the vehicle, the suspect exited and fired shots at police. Responding officers fired back and struck the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were injured.
Expect heavy police activity while law enforcement investigates the scene.
