Two people killed after speeding driver runs red light in Coppell

The Coppell Police Department says two people were killed Thursday evening in a vehicle crash.
At 7:20pm, the Coppell Fire Department and Police Department responded to the intersection of W. Bethel Road and S. Freeport Parkway for a two-vehicle crash.
Authorities say a 20-year-old driver was traveling northbound on Freeport Parkway at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and t-boned a sedan traveling eastbound on Bethel Road. Two occupants inside the sedan, a 41-year-old female from California and a 69-year-old female from Plano, were both pronounced deceased at the scene. Coppell ambulances transported at least three others to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Police believe the speeding driver was fleeing from the scene of a crash that occurred on 635 just prior to this fatal collision. He has been arrested on two counts of Manslaughter.
The intersection was closed for several hours while Coppell police investigated the scene.
