Juvenile killed in off-road vehicle crash in Mansfield neighborhood

The Mansfield Police Department and Fire/EMS Department responded to a major crash involving a Kawasaki Mule side-by-side on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 5:50 p.m. on Woodland Drive in the cul-de-sac.

Investigators believe that the operator of the vehicle tried to turn the vehicle as it was approaching the end of the cul-de-sac. During this turn, there was a loss of control which caused the Kawasaki to roll over onto its side.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle, however the passenger was trapped underneath the vehicle. The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital in Arlington and was later pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as a 16-year-old male from Grand Prairie.

The incident remains under investigation.

Woman killed in Cleburne motorcycle crash

The Cleburne Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred late Saturday north of town.

At around 11:15pm, Cleburne Police and Fire responded to the scene in the 4200 block of N. Main Street (Highway 174) near County Road 904.

Reports indicate a motorcyclist was traveling recklessly when the operator crashed into a vehicle. The motorcyclist was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as a 44-year-old woman from Cleburne.

The accident remains under investigation.

One man killed, suspect arrested after Johnson County shooting

At around 1:30am Sunday, multiple police officers from Joshua and Godley along with Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 6900 block of County Road 913.

Authorities say there was a party at the location. During the party, a fight broke out and one person was shot. The individual was transported to a Fort Worth hospital, but did not survive. The victim has not yet been identified, but officials describe him as a “young man.”

Johnson County SO has announced an arrest in this shooting. Currently he has multiple charges including 1) kidnapping 2) evading in a vehicle and 3) evading on foot. More charges are forthcoming, including Murder.

The incident remains under investigation.

Abbott firefighter struck, killed by firetruck while assisting a stranded motorist

Yesterday at 7:18pm, the Abbott Fire Department was on scene of what was believed to be a motor vehicle crash on IH35, just south of the new Main Street Market. As they arrived, it was determined that it was actually a stranded motorist and they opted to stay on scene to assist with traffic control until a wrecker arrived.

As the firefighters were repositioning, to better assist, one of the firefighters was struck by the fire truck. Immediately life saving measures were started and additional emergency services were summoned to the scene. The firefighter was flown to Hillcrest Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Please join us as we grieve this tragic loss of a man who died in the service of strangers. Hill County was grateful for him and will not be the same without him.

Motorcyclist killed in Cleburne crash

The Cleburne Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred Wednesday evening.

Just before 10:30pm, Cleburne emergency responders were called to a motorcycle accident in the 900 block of Country Club Road near Park Blvd.

When officers arrived, they located a motorcyclist who had been ejected from his bike during a crash. Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as a 40-year-old man from Grandview.

The crash remains under investigation.

Woman killed, child critically hurt in Denton crash

The Denton Police Department is actively investigating a two- vehicle crash that resulted in a woman’s death and critical injuries to a child.

At 7:33 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, Denton Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to a major crash involving a pickup truck and a sedan in the 8400 block of W. University Drive near Cottonwood Lane. The preliminary investigation shows that both vehicles were westbound when the pickup truck struck the sedan, subsequently causing the sedan to hit a power pole. The pickup truck had moderate front-end damage while the sedan sustained extensive rear-end damage.

Denton Fire transported all three occupants of the sedan to a local hospital, where a 28-year-old female passenger was pronounced deceased. A 10-year-old with critical injuries was transported to a regional hospital by air ambulance. The 62-year-old female sedan driver suffered minor to moderate injuries, and the male pickup truck driver was uninjured.

Traffic investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash. Intoxication is not suspected on the part of either driver.

Westbound lanes of W. University Drive were closed for approximately four hours while first responders worked the crash.

Erratic man subdued at Fort Worth’s La Gran Plaza later dies from medical emergency

On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 12:52 p.m., a Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) officer was working in an off-duty capacity at La Gran Plaza. An unknown male subject entered the location, acting erratically. Security guards at the location attempted to detain the male subject causing the disturbance. When security attempted to detain the subject, a security guard was assaulted. An off-duty Fort Worth Police Officer came to the assistance of the security guard.

South Division Patrol Officers were dispatched to the location and arrived on the scene to further assist in detaining the subject.

The officers were able to physically detain the subject in handcuffs, resulting in a de-escalation of the situation. While in handcuffs, the subject began showing signs of medical distress. Fearing that the man was having a medical emergency, the officers removed his handcuffs and provided him with medical aid. 

The male was transported to a local area hospital for treatment, but was later pronounced deceased.

This information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing.

Search will not resume for two men believed to be dead in Trinity River, Dallas officials say

The search for two men missing on the Trinity River will not resume, Dallas Fire Rescue says.

Dallas Fire Rescue and Police responded to reports of two men missing in the area of 1600 California Crossing. The pair went under the water and did not resurface.

Rescue crews searched for the two for hours, but did not locate them.

There will be no proactive search and rescue efforts by DFR, officials confirm. “The men are believed to be dead, and the most likely case is that the bodies will resurface on their own, at which point we will be asked to help get them from the water.”

The incident remains under investigation.

Two people killed in Grand Prairie crash

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Sunday, April 9,
2023, in the eastbound lanes of I20 near Belt Line.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., a passenger car was traveling east on I20 when the driver lost control and sideswiped another passenger car. This vehicle was pushed towards the right shoulder where it collided with a third passenger car that was stranded with three passengers.

A male passenger of the stranded vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene. Two other passengers were transported to a local hospital where a second passenger succumbed to their injuries. The third passenger remains in critical condition.

According to witnesses, the driver of the first vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner. The driver was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of Manslaughter and one count of Aggravated Assault.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

The driver was identified as William Thompson, 22 years of age. Thompson is currently being held in the Grand Prairie Detention Center. No bond has been set at this time.

The collision remains under investigation.

Man killed in Saginaw crash

The Saginaw Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred this afternoon on E. Bailey Boswell Road between Basswood and Sassafrass Street.

At around 1:45pm, multiple emergency responders from Saginaw FD and PD along with MedStar EMS responded to the scene and located two vehicles involved in a collision. There were multiple injuries at the scene. One patient was said to be in life-threatening condition.

CPR was reported as paramedics transporte0d the individual to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced deceased at the facility.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as a 67-year-old man from Fort Worth.

Lanes of Bailey Boswell Road have been closed for hours while Saginaw police investigate the scene.
