Intoxicated driver causes fatal Arlington crash, police say

On Monday, November 20, 2023, at approximately 9:08 a.m., Arlington Police Department, Fire Department, and EMS responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 3900 block of West Division Street near Forest Edge Drive.

Investigators determined a pickup truck was traveling in the west bound lanes of West Division Street when the driver crossed into the east bound lanes of oncoming traffic and struck a second pickup truck. Material from inside the truck bed flew off and struck a third vehicle.

The driver of the eastbound pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver who caused the crash, 44-year-old Guerrero Madrid Salgado, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe Mr. Salgado was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Once he is cleared by medical staff, he will be booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Intoxication Manslaughter and one count of Possession of Controlled Substance.

No other injuries were reported.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
