Wrong-way driver collision kills 2 in Midlothian
The Midlothian Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that claimed the lives of two people.
Around midnight Friday night, Midlothian Fire/EMS and Police responded to a vehicle crash with entrapment along the eastbound (southbound) lanes of Highway 287 between Midlothian Parkway and Plainview Road.
Police say a wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision on the highway. Officers arrived to find one of the vehicles on fire.
The driver and one passenger inside the wrong-way vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. The second passenger in the vehicle was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The other driver hit by the wrong-way driver was also airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The victims have been identified as two 38-year-old females.
The crash remains under investigation.
