Shooting in Grapevine might have been a targeted attack, police say
On Monday, February 19, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Grapevine Police responded to a reported shooting in the 1300 block of Texan Trail, near the service road to SH-114. Officers discovered a 20-year-old man in the driver’s seat of a car with a gunshot wound to his hip.
Officers immediately began performing life-saving aid to the victim until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to the hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
He told investigators he was driving southbound on Texan Trail when occupants in another vehicle pulled up beside him and opened fire before continuing down the roadway.
After speaking with the victim and other acquaintances at the hospital, detectives believe the shooter may be known to the victim, and that this was a targeted assault. The investigation remains open, and interviews are still underway with involved parties.
