Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy shot while arresting pursuit suspect
On Sunday, August 11, at approximately 9:30 PM, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office assisted Tarrant County Deputies who were pursuing a vehicle into Johnson County. The vehicle’s occupants exited the vehicle and fled into a house near Mansfield in Johnson County.
The Deputies made entry into the residence to arrest the driver. During the arrest, Johnson County Deputy Austin Reed was shot in the hip while attempting to subdue a resisting suspect.
Deputy Reed was transported to the hospital and treated for the non life threatening wound. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The Texas Rangers took control of the crime scene and will be conducting the investigation.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and the occupants were detained and transported to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
