Update: Three killed in multi-vehicle crash along Central Expressway
On October 31, 2024, at 11:55 p.m., the Richardson Police Department responded to a crash in the 3400 block of N. Central Expressway.
Officers initially received a report of a stalled SUV in the southbound HOV lane. Prior to officers arriving to assist, the driver of a second SUV, traveling south, crashed into the back of the first SUV. After the initial crash, a sedan, also southbound, struck the rear of the second SUV.
When the two collisions occurred, the driver and six passengers in the first SUV were standing outside of the vehicle. One of the passengers, identified as a 19-year-old, died at the scene. Additionally, the driver and four of the passengers were transported to the hospital for their injuries and one passenger was not injured.
The second SUV was driven by a 27-year-old woman and occupied by her 6-year-old daughter. Both were transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased.
The driver and a passenger in the third vehicle were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Two additional vehicles were damaged by debris from the crash with no injuries reported.
The Special Crash Investigation Team is continuing with the investigation.
