High speed crash claims life of driver in Allen

The Allen Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one individual early Sunday morning near E. Bethany Drive and Whitman Drive.

At around 12:14 a.m. on Sunday, December 29, officers responded to reports of a major crash at the scene. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle overturned in the creek beneath Bethany Drive.

Inside the vehicle, they discovered an unresponsive male. Officers worked to extract the victim from the wreckage, and emergency personnel from the Allen Fire Department arrived shortly after to administer life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, they were unable to revive the victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Collin County Medical Examiner.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Bethany Drive at a high rate of speed. After colliding with another vehicle traveling in the same direction, the driver of the speeding vehicle lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn in the creek.

The driver of the other remained on scene and provided a statement to Allen officers.

The investigation is ongoing and we urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional
information to contact the Allen Police Department at 214.509.4200.
