One killed in Grand Prairie crash; driver arrested for intoxication

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that occurred early this morning on westbound IH-30 near MacArthur Blvd.

At approximately 5:05 a.m., a pickup truck pulling a utility trailer was entering the emergency shoulder to stop and adjust towing straps when a sedan struck the utility trailer from behind.

A passenger inside the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Traffic investigators determined the driver of the sedan was allegedly intoxicated and will be charged with Intoxication Manslaughter once released from medical treatment. No other charges are expected.

The collision remains under investigation.
