Repo man shot in Arlington
At around 9:20pm on Tuesday evening, Arlington police officers responded to a parking lot in the 2100 block of S. Collins Street to investigate a shooting.
When they arrived on scene, they found a 20-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the victim was a repo man who had just repossessed an SUV. He told officers he had pulled into the parking lot to file his report when the owner of the SUV pulled up in another vehicle and confronted him.
During their exchange, the owner of the SUV pulled out a gun and shot the repo man.
The owner of the SUV told officers he thought the victim had stolen his car, and claims he saw the repo man reaching for something in his waistband, which is why he pulled out a gun and fired.
Officers recovered firearms from both the owner of the SUV and the repo man.
At this time, no criminal charges have been filed.
