One killed, two critically hurt after driver attempts to exit last minute on LBJ in Dallas
On May 30, 2026, at approximately 6:28 p.m., Dallas Police and Dallas Fire Rescue responded to a major accident on the in the 11100 block of westbound LBJ Freeway near Plano Road.
The preliminary investigation determined that a three-vehicle collision occurred when a sedan traveling westbound on LBJ Freeway attempted to exit the freeway from the second from left lane. The sedan struck the concrete barrier and traffic attenuator and was subsequently hit by a pickup truck and 18-wheeler.
After the crash, the sedan caught fire.
One passenger in the sedan was ejected and transported to the hospital in critical condition and a second passenger in the sedan died at the scene. The driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver and two passengers of the pickup were all transported to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
