Man armed with shotgun shot and killed by Irving PD after shooting into 7-11 store

The Irving Police Department responded to a shooting call at the 7-11, 510 N. Nursey Road, at 1:15AM this morning.

An employee of the convenience store called police to report a man was shooting his way into the store. Police say the store was closed at the time. The employee was hiding in the bathroom of the business.

When Irving police officers arrived on the scene, the suspect, armed with a shotgun, was exiting the business. Officers gave verbal commands to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. An Irving PD officer discharged his weapon, striking and killing the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as a 69-year-old man.

No officers, nor the store employee, were injured in the incident.
