SWAT arrests man barricaded in south Arlington home

The Arlington Police Department SWAT team was mobilized to apprehend an armed and barricaded person inside a south Arlington home yesterday evening.

On Tuesday afternoon, deputies with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office were serving a mental health warrant on an individual in the 6800 block of Blake Drive. The 35-year-old man refused to come out of the home, so deputies pulled back and regrouped a plan to execute the warrant.

While officers were regrouping, a family member stopped by the house to pick up some things. She told officers that while she was inside, the man pointed a gun at her and told her to get out of the house.

The family member left and officers returned with Arlington PD’s SWAT team. At around 9:15pm last night, SWAT mobilized in the parking lot of nearby Life Apostolic Church with two armed personnel carriers and a command post. Officers were also utilizing a drone to surveil the suspect.

SWAT officers were able to get the man to surrender peacefully. He was arrested and transported to Arlington jail on a charge of Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon and two family violence assault charges.
