One body recovered, two others still missing after boat overturns at Lake Lavon

Texas Game Wardens and Collin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred around sunset on Saturday evening.

At 8:45pm, a scattered storm with strong winds passed over Lake Lavon causing a small boat to overturn. The boat was occupied by four men. One of them was able to swim to a tree and call 9-1-1. He was later rescued by responding Game Warden personnel. The other three men were unable to be rescued.

Officials searched by air and ground during the night on Saturday, but the missing men were not located.

Early this morning, authorities located one body in the water. They continue to search for the other two individuals who presumably drowned.

Expect activity on the shoreline and in the water as officials work this scene.

Resident at DeSoto group home beats roommate to death

The DeSoto Police Department is investigating a fatal beating that occurred Wednesday evening in the 700 block of Tara Drive.

At around 5:00pm on Wednesday evening, DeSoto police officers were called to the scene and located a 45-year-old man laying unresponsive near the side of a home. Paramedics also responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man and charged him with beating the victim to death. Officials say the two lived at a nearby group home on Jamille Drive. He has been charged with Murder.

The incident remains under investigation.

Motorcyclist killed in Richardson crash

The Richardson Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred late Thursday night along the northbound lanes of Central Expressway (US-75) near Arapaho Road.

At around 11:00pm, Richardson Fire/EMS and Police were called to the scene after a 9-1-1 caller reported a crash involving a motorcycle.

When emergency responders arrived, they located a rider down in the left lane of traffic. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Police believe the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Driver killed in crash along I-30 in Dallas

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight along eastbound Interstate 30 near Dolphin Road.

At 2:01am, Dallas Fire-Rescue and Dallas County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene of a four-vehicle accident on the highway. One vehicle was wrapped around the front of a box truck with major damage to the passenger side. The driver of this vehicle, a 29-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dallas paramedics.

Immediately following the collision, the driver of the box truck ran away from the scene. Police believe he may have been picked up by someone else.

Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. One remained at the scene, but the fourth drove off. There were no other major injuries.

Lanes of eastbound I-30 were closed for 4+ hours while DSO investigated the scene. As they were working the scene, an intoxicated driver drove past the blockades. In an effort to stop the driver from crashing into the fatality accident scene, a DSO deputy used his squad car to stop the driver. He was taken to a local hospital but will be booked into the Dallas County Jail for intoxication.

Duncanville police kill armed man at kids camp and stop potential active shooter situation

At 8:43am this morning, Duncanville police officers were dispatched to the Duncanville Fieldhouse, located in the 1700 block of S. Main Street at Highway 67, for reports of a possible active shooter inside the building. At least one 9-1-1 caller reported hearing gunshots.

At 8:45am, first arriving Duncanville police officers immediately went into the building and began a search for the shooter while children and adults fled outside.

Officers quickly located the armed individual and engaged in a shootout with the suspect. He was shot at least once. Duncanville paramedics transported him to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect walked into the front door armed with a handgun. An employee encountered the man and at least one shot was fired by the suspect. Other employees immediately began locking doors to safeguard the children. Police say the man attempted to get into a classroom, but he was unsuccessful. The suspect then moved into the gymnasium where first-arriving officers exchanged gunshots with him.

The summer camp for 4 to 14-year-olds was beginning its second week with an average attendance of over 250 campers and staff, police say. Due to the clear-headed actions of staff and the quick response time of law enforcement, there were no additional injuries. DeSoto PD and Cedar Hill PD also responded to this incident.

Duncanville ISD assisted by providing safe transportation for children, moving them by school bus from the Fieldhouse to the Duncanville Recreation Center, which was established as a reunification center. As of this release, all the children have been picked up by parents or guardians.

The Texas Department of Public Safety will be handing the officer involved shooting investigation.

Two people shot and killed at apartment complex in southwest Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a homicide at The Club at Stonegate Apartments, 4100 Stonegate Blvd, on the southwest side of town.

At around 7:01am this morning, Fort Worth police were dispatched to a shooting at the apartments. A 9-1-1 caller mentioned shots were fired. When officers arrived, they located two deceased victims inside one of the apartment units.

Officers detained a suspect in the vicinity of the crime scene. He has since been arrested for a warrant unrelated to this incident. Investigators will be speaking with him further about the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation.

NEW: Man and juvenile critically injured at Joe Pool Lake

The Grand Prairie Fire Department is investigating a swimming incident at Joe Pool Lake that critically injured two individuals.

At 6:35pm, Grand Prairie FD/EMS and Police responded to the swimming area of Lynn Creek Park for two people who went under the water and did not resurface. The Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team conducted a search of the area and quickly located the bodies of two individuals in the water. Life-saving measures were administered on both victims and continued as Grand Prairie paramedics transported them to local hospitals.

The 39-year-old man and 17-year-old male are in critical condition.

Both swimmers were not wearing life jackets.

As the lake season continues, Grand Prairie Fire Department urges anyone in or near the water to wear life vests or personal flotation devices, especially when swimming.

Woman abruptly swerved across highway before fatal crash, Irving police say

The Irving Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred along westbound Airport Freeway (Highway 183) near Belt Line Road Monday afternoon.

At around 3:00pm, Irving Fire/EMS and Police responded to the scene and located two vehicles with major damage.

Investigators say a driver was traveling in the far right lane when she abruptly swerved across all lanes of the highway, seemingly attempting to enter the express lanes at the last minute. In doing so, she collided with the yellow collapsing barrier. A second vehicle traveling in the fast lane then collided into her vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Parkland Hospital, but pronounced deceased. She has been identified as a 26-year-old from Dallas. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Teen’s body recovered from Lake Worth

Officials have recovered the body of a 16-year-old male who drowned in Lake Worth on Monday evening.

Shortly before 8:00pm on Monday night, multiple emergency responders from the Fort Worth Fire Department, Fort Worth Police Department, MedStar EMS, Marshal’s Lake Patrol, and Texas Parks and Wildlife were called to the western shores of Lake Worth for a missing person in the water.

It was suspected that a teenage individual had waded out into the water and did not resurface. Agencies conducted a search and recovery operation until 10:30pm, but suspended the search until Tuesday morning. They located the teen’s body at 9:22am this morning near the 9700 block of Watercress Drive.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will rule on the official cause of death.

15-year-old struck, killed by vehicle on highway in Bedford

The Bedford Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred over the weekend along lanes of Highway 183.

On Saturday night, Bedford Police and Fire/EMS responded to a major accident in the 3000 block of State Highway 183 toll lanes near Forest Ridge Drive for a person struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a juvenile victim who had been struck by a vehicle.

Officers began administering life-saving measures until Bedford paramedics arrived at the scene. EMS transported him to Texas Health HEB hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as a 15-year-old male from Bedford.

The driver who struck him remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, Bedford police say.

The crash remains under investigation.
