UPDATE: No major injuries after fiery 18-wheeler rollover in Lewisville

The Lewisville Police Department has closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 35E near Round Grove Road while emergency responders work to clean up an earlier crash involving an 18-wheeler.

Around 7:30pm this evening, Lewisville Fire Department and Police Department responded to the crash in the northbound lanes of the highway.

Officials say an 18-wheeler and a vehicle were both traveling northbound on the highway when a collision occurred. Impact from the collision caused the semi to hit the left median and TxDOT sign between the main lanes and the express lanes. The cab of the truck and the trailer separated from one another, causing the trailer to overturn. The cab ended up in the express lanes. Part of the wreckage caught fire at the base of the TxDOT sign.

The people in the passenger vehicle were not injured. The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is anticipated that northbound I35E will be closed for much of this evening while TxDOT crews inspect the sign and clean up crews clear the highway.
