NEW: Tow truck operator killed in Duncanville crash
Just before 1:00pm this afternoon, Duncanville Fire/EMS and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a major accident in the eastbound lanes of I20 near Cedar Ridge Drive.
A preliminary investigation reveals a FedEx 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound on the interstate and attempted to pass a car in the right lane when the semi truck collided with two tow truck operators on the shoulder.
One of the tow truck operators was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second was airlifted by CareFlite to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Police say the operators were attempting to tow a vehicle at the time of the collision.
There were no other injuries in the crash. No alcohol or drugs were involved, DSO says.
Cedar Hill Fire Department assisted with their Heavy Rescue unit.
